Men's Ballon d'Or: Ballon d'Or Regulations

Article 1. The Ballon d'Or and voting are organized annually by the monthly magazine France Football. The ceremony is co-organized with UEFA.

Article 2. The Ballon d'Or rewards the best male player and best female player in the world, without distinction of Championship or nationality.

Article 3. The reference period covers the entire season, from August 1, 2024 to August 2, 2025, including international competitions (Club World Cup; Euro, Copa America and CAN for women). As a reminder, the 2024 Olympics counted for the previous edition.

Article 4. The Ballon d'Or is awarded based on three criteria in order of importance:

Individual performances, decisive and impressive character

Collective performances and achievements

Class and fair-play

Article 5. The Ballon d'Or is awarded by an international jury of specialized journalists, with one representative per country, the top 100 in the FIFA ranking for men and the top 50 for women. The FIFA ranking taken into account is the one at the date of publication of the lists on August 7, 2025.

Article 6. Each juror designates ten players in descending order of merit from the list of 30 established by the editorial staff of France Football, members of the editorial staff of L'Équipe, at least one juror from the previous edition and UEFA ambassadors, Luis Figo and Fabio Capello for the men's trophy, Nadine Kessler for the women's trophy.

Article 7. The ten mentioned are respectively awarded 15, 12, 10, 8, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 points. The Ballon d'Or is awarded to the player with the most points.

Article 8. In case of a tie, players are separated by the number of first-place citations. If the tie remains, by the number of second places, then by the number of third places, etc.

Article 9. Any dispute arising from the ballot is settled by the editor-in-chief of France Football as the organizer.

Women's Ballon d'Or: Ballon d'Or Regulations

The Kopa Trophy rewards the best prospect under twenty-one years of age on December 31 of the calendar year.

The Kopa Trophy is awarded based on three main criteria observed during the calendar year. In order:

Individual and collective performances (achievements)

Player's class (talent and fair-play)

Ability to establish oneself over time

The Kopa Trophy is awarded by a grand jury composed exclusively of Ballon d'Or winners. Each juror designates three players in descending order of merit from a list of ten players previously established by the editorial staff of France Football.

The three players selected by the voter are respectively awarded 5, 3 and 1 points. The trophy is awarded to the player with the most points.

In case of a tie for the trophy, players are separated by the number of first-place citations. If the tie remains, by the number of second-place citations, then by the number of third-place citations.

Any dispute arising from the ballot is settled by the editor-in-chief of France Football as organizer and jury president.

Women's Kopa Trophy Regulations

The Kopa Trophy rewards the best prospect under twenty-one years of age on July 31 of the calendar year.

The Kopa Trophy is awarded based on three main criteria observed during the calendar year. In order:

Ability to establish oneself over time

Each juror designates three goalkeepers in descending order of merit from a list of ten nominees established by the editorial staff of France Football, members of the editorial staff of L'Équipe, at least one juror from the previous edition and by UEFA ambassadors, Luis Figo and Fabio Capello.

Article 8. Each juror designates two female goalkeepers in descending order of merit from a list of five nominees established by the editorial staff of France Football, members of the editorial staff of L'Équipe, at least one juror from the previous edition and by UEFA ambassador, Nadine Kessler.

Article 9. The two selected female goalkeepers are awarded 2 and 1 points. The trophy is awarded to the female goalkeeper with the most points.

Article 10. In case of a tie, goalkeepers are separated by the number of first-place citations. If the tie remains, by the number of second-place citations. In case of a tie, female goalkeepers are separated by the number of first-place citations. If the tie remains, it will be settled by the editorial management of France Football.

Article 11. Any dispute arising from the ballot is settled by the editor-in-chief of France Football as the organizer.

Johan Cruyff Trophy Regulations (Men and Women)

Article 1. The Johan Cruyff Trophy is organized annually by the monthly magazine France Football.

Article 2. The Johan Cruyff Trophy rewards the best coach of the season (club or national team) of a men's team and the best coach of the season (club or national team) of a women's team, without distinction of Championship or country.

Article 3. The reference period covers the entire season, from August 1, 2024 to August 2, 2025, including international competitions (Club World Cup; Euro, Copa America and CAN for women). As a reminder, the 2024 Olympics counted for the previous edition.

Article 4. The Johan Cruyff Trophy is awarded based on several criteria to be considered as a whole such as: the quality of the team's play, titles won, leadership, tactical skills, ability to optimize the performance of available players, to reveal young talents as well as to exceed reasonable objectives, and respect and fair-play.

Article 5. The Johan Cruyff Trophy is awarded by an international jury of specialized journalists, that of the men's Ballon d'Or for the coach of a men's team and that of the women's Ballon d'Or for the coach of a women's team.

Article 6. Each juror designates two coaches in descending order of merit from a list of five nominees previously established by the editorial staff of France Football, members of the editorial staff of L'Équipe, at least one juror from the previous edition as well as by UEFA ambassadors, Luis Figo and Fabio Capello for the coach of a men's team and Nadine Kessler for the coach of a women's team.

Article 7. The two coaches are awarded 2 and 1 points. The trophy is awarded to the coach with the most points.

Article 8. In case of a tie, coaches are separated by the number of first-place citations. If the tie remains, it will be settled by the editorial management of France Football.

Article 9. Any dispute is settled by the editor-in-chief of France Football as the organizer.

Best Men's and Women's Club Trophy Regulations

Article 1. The Trophies for the men's club and women's club of the season are trophies organized annually by the monthly magazine France Football.

Article 2. They reward the best men's club and the best women's club, without distinction of Championship.

Article 3. The reference period covers the entire season, from August 1, 2024 to July 13, 2025 (Club World Cup included).

Article 4. The Club of the Season Trophies are awarded based on several criteria to be considered as a whole such as: quality of play, titles won, memorable victories, results exceeding expectations, respect and fair-play.

Article 5. The Club of the Season Trophies are awarded by an international jury of specialized journalists, that of the men's Ballon d'Or for the men's club and that of the women's Ballon d'Or for the women's club.

Article 6. Each juror designates two clubs in descending order of merit from a list of five nominees established by the editorial staff of France Football, members of the editorial staff of L'Équipe, at least one juror from the previous edition as well as by UEFA ambassadors, Luis Figo and Fabio Capello for the men's club, Nadine Kessler for the women's club.

Article 7. The two selected clubs are awarded 2 and 1 points. The trophy is awarded to the club with the most points.

Article 8. In case of a tie, clubs are separated by the number of first-place citations. Then by the number of players nominated in the Ballon d'Or lists. If the tie remains, it will be settled by the editorial management of France Football.

Article 9. Any dispute is settled by the editor-in-chief of France Football as the organizer.
